Dec 20, 2007
As usual, there are lots of things happening and I have little time to write about them:
-
Lance
forwarded an article opposing
railroad “quiet zones”. The author
concludes by writing “[500 pedestrian deaths are] far too high a price to pay for the sounds of silence.” I
suspect that there are
150,000 people who might disagree.
-
Smith and Larson Audio are holding a month-long
contest - they are
giving away a Woofer Tester 2
every week through December. Two units have already been awarded, two more remain so get in
while you can!
-
In addition to some insightful comments in response to my
post
from a few weeks ago, Savant also considers the effect that impact of a “99.999998%” reduction (the reduction
that is claimed from the MIT/University of Cambridge
SAX-40)
in the noise levels of everyday products.
-
An NPR bloggers roundtable
discusses the perception that blacks are unfairly targeted by nuisance laws like noise ordinances. I’ve
covered this ground before.
By the way, there might be a picture of Michael Bolton on the right side of this webpage. It’s not there by choice: those iTunes ads
are served by Apple and they advertise a “Free Song of the Week. I swear to you, I’m not a closet Michael Bolton fan. Really.
